Top 5 Reasons for a Destination Wedding

In recent years, many brides and grooms have chosen to abandon the traditional large, fancy wedding in favor of nuptials in a more exotic location. There are many good reasons why couples choose a destination wedding over a “local” wedding.

Here is my list of the top 5 reasons.

 1.  Save Money!

Destination weddings aren’t as expensive as you think. You can have a beautiful wedding ceremony and honeymoon all in one. There are many all-inclusive packages that include your meals, drinks, activities and more for less than $10 000. That’s a whole week of fun versus one night of a traditional wedding and sit-down dinner which averages $25,000 or more.

2. You can get married in a unique location

The world is your oyster! You can choose to get married anywhere in the world, maybe your favourite holiday place or somewhere you have always dreamt of travelling to. The options are enormous and it won’t need to cost you a lot.

 3. A great excuse to reduce the guest list

If you have a wedding at home this can often lead to feeling the obligation to invite everybody you know, and everybody your parents know!  Many couples would prefer not to spend their entire wedding day doing the rounds, and chatting with distant relatives who they haven’t seen in a long time.

If you really want only your closest family and friends you might just be able to get away with it as not everyone can afford to travel to your wedding destination.

4. Reduce needless anxiety

you don’t have waste time and effort visiting dozens of venues in your area, and worrying about who should sit with whom at the wedding reception or all the other details that the guests may not even notice!  Destination weddings often have a wedding co-coordinator which keeps everything organized, therefore causing less stress for the bride and groom.

5. A destination wedding can double as a honeymoon.

After the big day- you’ll probably be relaxing on the beach the next morning with a tropical drink in your hand and your toes in the sand! Your honeymoon starts right away.
